What do I need to do to purchase a new firearm?

  • To purchase a long gun you must be 18 years old and have a valid PA ID with current address. You must complete a Form 4473 and be able to pass the background check (PICS – Pennsylvania Instant Check System).
  • To purchase a handgun you must be 21 years old and have a valid PA ID with current address. You must complete a Form 4473 and an Application of Record & Sales Form SP4-113. You must be able to pass the background check (PICS – Pennsylvania Instant Check System).
  • There is no waiting period for long guns or handguns in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • The fee to purchase or transfer a firearm is $25.00. Denied PICS calls cost $25.00. Calls put into research or delayed cost $25.00.

Personal Transfers

  • You are not required to transfer long guns in PA providing the individual is not prohibited. We do suggest you keep a personal record of the transfer.
  • To transfer a handgun you must be 21 years old, both parties must have a valid PA ID with current address and transferee must be able to pass the background check (PICS – Pennsylvania Instant Check System).
  • If the transferee/buyer is unable to pass a background check the transferor/seller must pass background check to get firearm back.
  • The fee to purchase or transfer a firearm is $25.00. Denied PICS calls cost $25.00. Calls put into research or delayed cost $25.00.
  • As per Pennsylvania Law, transfers between spouses or to transfer between a parent and child or to transfer between grandparent and grandchild do not require a dealer.
  • For transfers of firearms of deceased individuals you must be the power of attorney over the estate and have death certificate available.

Internet Purchases

  • No internet transfers will be accepted unless pre arranged with M&T Supply prior to placing your order with the firearm seller.
  • Internet transfer fee is $25.00 per each firearm.
  • Transfers will be to the named purchaser only. A family member, friend or neighbor cannot pick up your firearm for you.

Shipping a firearm to us:

  • We will accept firearms shipped to us by appointment only. If you have not contacted us first, we will refuse the shipment.
  • We accept firearms from valid FFL dealers.
  • We will not accept shipments from invalid FFL’s.
  • If you purchased from an individual, we will accept the item provided they include a copy of their valid state ID and current contact information.
  • Please provide us with your name, phone number, gun description, and the licensed dealer information the firearm is shipping from.
  • Provide the shipping FFL with our contact information so we may provide them with our FFL information. Make sure the sender includes your contact information along with the shipment.
